Tax Rebates Explained

Inland Revenue Tax Rebates occur when a refund of tax has been overpaid. There are a number of reasons why you could be due one:

• You start a new job on an emergency tax code.
• Your circumstances change, E.G. you marry, become a single parent
• HM Revenue assigns the wrong tax code to your employer
• HM Revenue made an assessment, for example, for a self-employed person, which was too high
• You might be a student and have earned less than the tax free allowance
